really, we do. when YOU don't show up 100%, both of us lose.

so it really doesn't do either of us any good when you don't actually speak how you feel, or reveal who you are to me.

you lose because you placed a false virtue (i wouldn't want to risk offending someone, i don't want to rock the boat, they're a better leader than me anyway) over being true to yourself and authentic to the world, and compromised your heart in the process. and then i lose because i miss out on the genuine expression of who you are...i instead encounter a lookalike of you, but one that is actually counterfeit and not the real thing. thus, i can't receive the gifts that you have to give, which only the real YOU, can truly give.

Excerpt from Brene Brown that is applicable:

"The root of the word courage is cor – the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, the word courage had a very different definition than it does today. Courage originally meant 'To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart.'"

so please. no matter what it looks like, for the sake of all of us, commit to showing up 100% in every area of your life. display courage and act, and speak, boldly. we are all in need, of all of you.
